• Ross Spears, President

    Ross Spears is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is an Assistant Professor of Counseling in the Department of Psychology and Counseling at the University of Texas at Tyler. Ross continues to publish conceptual and empirically based research on neuro-informed therapeutic practices, the intersection of neurofeedback and counselor education, cultural humility, and andragogy. He regularly presents this work at international, national, and state conferences. Within the clinical setting, Ross Spears continues to offer therapeutic services to the Texas community, integrating a variety of modalities, including relational-cultural theory, cultural humility, neurofeedback, and neuro-informed psychoeducation. 

  • Donna Schuman, Secretary

    Dr. Donna Schuman is the newly elected Secretary of the Executive Board of the Biofeedback Society of Texas. She is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she teaches graduate courses on brain and behavior, and is a BCIA Fellow in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback. Previously, Dr. Schuman practiced biofeedback and neurofeedback with service members and veterans at the Department of Behavioral Health, Fort Rucker, Alabama, focusing on resilience and trauma recovery.

    Her research centers on biofeedback interventions for veteran mental health, including a collaborative study with the Lexington, Kentucky VA on a heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback intervention for veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her peer-reviewed publications demonstrate both symptom reduction and the predictive value of HRV markers for treatment responsiveness. Dr. Schuman has presented this work nationally and internationally, including invited lectures for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • Dawn-Petrice Youngs, Treasurer

    Dawn-Petrice Youngs, MA, LPC-S, NCC, BCN is the founder and clinical director of both Youngs Counseling, PLLC and Neurofeedback of Cypress, LLC, where she integrates neuroscience, psychophysiology, and relational care to help clients achieve emotional balance and self-regulation.

    Her deep commitment to client care and the science behind human flourishing led her back to graduate school, where she is currently pursuing her PhD in Applied Psychophysiology at Saybrook University. This next step reflects her dedication to advancing the field through both clinical practice and research at the intersection of brain, body, and behavior.

  • Barbara Peavey, Board Member at Large

    Dr. Barbara S. Peavey, Ph.D., MSCP, BCIAC: Senior Fellow is an internationally recognized licensed psychologist specializing in neuroplasticity, biofeedback, applied psychophysiology, psychopharmacology, and stress management. She earned her dual doctoral degrees in Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas in 1982 and later completed post-doctoral training in Psychopharmacology through Alliant University. Dr. Peavey is a BCIA Senior Fellow in Biofeedback and has served as Chairwoman of the Board for BCIA, Board Member for AAPB, and Past President of the Biofeedback Society of Texas (1985).

    Dr. Peavey founded the first behavioral medicine clinic at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1975, where she also served as faculty and counseling center staff for a decade. She later entered private practice, providing clinical services for adolescents and adults, and has taught doctoral-level courses at the University of North Texas and Saybrook University. For twelve years, she taught BCIA’s Blue-Print didactic biofeedback didactic course with the Applied Psychophysiology and lectured internationally on neuroplasticity and behavioral medicine.

    For the past two decades, Dr. Peavey has served as CEO and Clinical Director of the PsychoNeuroPlasticity (PNP) Center in Grapevine, Texas.
