Hello BST members and friends! I hope your new year is starting well and that all of you who made resolutions are persevering. Your board of directors will be meeting in early February to plan an exciting 2012 BST conference. We are already in the process of securing a city and hotel and will update you very soon. We would love to have your input. Have you heard any great speakers that you would like to recommend? Is there a particular topic that you would like to learn more about? Please take a few minutes of your time (why not right now) to let us hear from you. Your ideas could benefit all of our members. Please contact me or another board member with any recommendations you might have. Thank you! Patrice Brumley, LPC, BCB BST President Meet Your PresidentPatrice Brumley, M.Ed, LPC, BCB-Senior Fellow Hello fellow BST members! I am blessed to live in beautiful Austin and to have a wonderful 16 yr. old son and a nurturing husband of 30 yrs. I became a member of BST the first year that I became certified in biofeedback and have been a member for 25 yrs. now. Believe it or not, I got started in biofeedback when the dentist that I was working for, Dr. Robert Frazer, sent me for training in biofeedback to work with his stressed out, anxiety, dental phobic, and TMJ patients and the rest is history. Since I had a teaching degree and had just graduated with a master's in guidance and counseling, he had me develop the wellness program where I taught the prevention, healthcare, nutrition and stress management classes and then added the biofeedback. Since that time, I have been a biofeedback provider working in various settings such as a chronic pain clinic, dental office, private practice, group settings with licensed counselors, and psychiatric hospital out-patient and in-patient settings. Currently, I am working at The Samaritan Center for Counseling where I provide counseling and biofeedback/neurofeedback for veterans and their family members through our Hope For Heroes program. I also provide these services to clients within our community and enjoy working with children and adults. BST has been a superior resource for CEU's, education, and networking and has provided years of professional growth. Although I currently serve as BST President, I've also served as BST treasurer for 4 yrs., conference program co-chair in 2004 and conf. registration chairperson for 2 yrs. I've enjoyed being a board member for the past 3 yrs. as well as serving in the same capacity for 4 prior years from 1995-1999. It's been a fun, fun ride with the many BST friends I've met over the years! I highly recommend getting involved with your BST Board and serving as a board member. You will get to know and work with other biofeedback professionals and have a lot of fun, too! The more people you know....the more fun it is to reconnect with these friends and dedicated professionals at our annual conference each year. Thank you for the privilege to serve BST as your 2011-2012 President. |
