BST President’s Message

Greetings to all Friends of the Biofeedback Society of Texas

I am very excited to tell you more about the Sunday, October 14, 2007 workshop. It will be held at the Annual BST conference in Salado, Texas.

We are privileged to have I. Jon Russell, MD, PhD presenting a four-hour workshop entitled: Fibromyalgia Syndrome: Diagnosis, Pathogenesis, Management

Now whether you practice EEG biofeedback, Peripheral Biofeedback or a combination of both, this workshop should be of interest to you. The Fibromyalgia patient is bound to show up at your practice if he/she has not by now. This syndrome is still misunderstood and we are fortunate to have a leading authority in the field to educate us. This workshop should also be a draw for psychologists, LPCs, Social workers, and anyone else in the mental health or medical field whether or not they are familiar with biofeedback.

Dr. Russell is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and Director of the University Clinical Research Center. A brief description: He has served as

A council member for the Central Region American College of Rheumatology

National Chairman for the American College of Rheumatology's Non-articular Rheumatism Study Group

He has served on:

The Research Grants Committee for the Arthritis Foundation

The Research and Development Committee for the Audie Murphy Veteran's Administration

The Chronic Pain Management Sub-committee for the University Health System

Several site review committees and grant review panels for the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Russell is co-author of "The Fibromyalgia Help Book" and producer of the video documentary "Fibromyalgia and You."

I am so proud that we will have this distinguished gentleman join us. If you have never seen his book, I can tell you that I recommended it to many of my patients long before I ever thought we would be lucky enough to have him present to BST.

Don't miss out on this special event. Join us in Salado. More updates soon.
