BST President’s Message

Greetings and Happy Spring to all Members of BST and all friends not yet members of BST.

The Secret of Happiness is not in doing what one likes.
But in Liking what one has to Do.
--Barrie

We have to grow this membership. We have so much to offer colleagues who share our appreciation for the powers of self-regulation. We can choose to continue the work of so many wonderful professionals and friends who began this organization. Please join me in continuing the tradition of the Biofeedback Society of Texas.

Your Board of Directors met March 10, 2007.

Our general goals for 2007:

  • Increase membership
  • Re-engage and grow the student participation - They are our future.
  • Focus on fiscal responsibility
  • Have a great conference in 2007 in Salado

Members present at the meeting:

  • JD Massengill,LPC, president-elect
  • Pam White, LPC, treasurer
  • Mary O'Connor, REEG/EPT, secretary
  • Jana Downum,LPC, board member & 2007 program chair
  • Jan Keeney, LPC-I
  • Jerry McGill,PhD, student liaison
  • Michelle Aguayo, LPC by conference call
  • Lora Chandler,LPC, president
  • Mardie Barnard, BST Administrative Assistant
  • Randy Neblett, LPC and past-president, was in the Big Bend Country when our meeting took place. Prior to leaving he met with the program committee and his report was presented by Jana and JD.

The most important thing we have to do as an organization is to remember that in order to survive as a viable group, we must invite others to join us and share in what we have to offer.

For those of you that attended the conference in Ft.Worth, I will remind you of my challenge: find one colleague not yet involved in BST and invite them to Salado. We had a good time in Ft.Worth and we learned! This year's conference will be even better. And now a word from your 2007 Program Chair, Jana Downum. Be on the lookout for monthly updates. Our treasurer will update you soon on our financial situation and goals.

Lora Chandler, LPC, BCIA-C, 2007 President of BST

Preview of the 2007 BST Conference

Relax your mind and body in Salado, Texas during our 2007 Annual Biofeedback Conference, October 12, 13 and 14. We have several wonderful speakers who have committed to the program from neurobiofeedback to alternative disciplines like hypnosis. We will also be offering CEUs for ethics so you can get that out of the way this year. Come join your peers to see such speakers as Penny Montgomery, who will speak about neurobiofeedback, Dr. Tan, speaking about Heart Rate Variability and Dr. Russell who will give a workshop on fibromyalgia. See you there!
